Local driving

Local driving is home-daily work within a city or short radius — deliveries, drayage, LTL pickup-and-delivery — often with more physical handling and dock work than highway segments. Local positions are the most requested and usually the most oversubscribed in driver recruiting.

Why it matters when hiring drivers

"Local, home daily" is what a large share of all driver applicants actually want, whatever the posting says. This is why unscreened lead channels flood OTR and regional openings with local-only candidates. It cuts the other way too: fleets with genuine local openings can recruit efficiently if they say so precisely.
