What Indeed offers employers in 2026
Indeed combines free and Sponsored Jobs, an Employer Dashboard, candidate messaging, screener questions, resume search and Smart Sourcing. Employers can increase a job's visibility, find matched candidates, invite people to apply and manage statuses from one account.
Smart Sourcing uses AI-powered matching, search and outreach to find candidates whose profiles fit a job description. Indeed says invited matched candidates are 17 times more likely to apply than people who only see the job in search; that is an Indeed platform statistic, not a trucking-only result.
Indeed's reach and active-candidate intent are its central advantages. A fleet that needs more people to discover an open role should not confuse downstream recruiting automation with the audience Indeed has built.

Indeed also has AI screening
Indeed Smart Screening evaluates applicants against employer-defined criteria before they reach a compatible ATS. Its AI Recruiter can ask adaptive questions through text or chat, then provide a 0–100 Smart Fit Score, a candidate summary and a transcript for human review.
Indeed says Smart Screening can verify licenses and certifications through document uploads and that applications can flow through Indeed Apply into supported systems. Recruiters still control the criteria and every hiring decision.
This makes a simplistic AI-versus-job-board comparison misleading. Indeed now covers sourcing and early screening with AI; the practical question is whether a general-market profile and conversational screen capture the CDL-specific phone discussion the fleet needs.

What Call2Action adds to Indeed leads
Call2Action can treat Indeed as one input to a broader driver-recruiting funnel. When a new lead arrives, Call2Action begins an AI phone call in under five minutes and runs a 5–7 minute qualification conversation covering CDL class, endorsements, experience, fleet history, route preference and employment terms.
The difference is channel and depth. Indeed helps a candidate discover, apply and complete an early digital evaluation. Call2Action follows the driver into a spoken, trucking-specific conversation, repeated follow-up, pre-employment screening and digital onboarding while organizing the results for the fleet.
Because the systems can complement each other, a fleet can measure Indeed on qualified and seated drivers rather than applications alone. Call2Action's integration page describes routing Indeed candidates into one consistent recruiting workflow alongside other lead sources.

Compare total hiring output, not cost per click
Indeed offers free posts subject to limits and Sponsored Jobs with market-dependent budgets. Pricing depends on job title, location, competition, hiring timeline and plan; Smart Sourcing and Smart Screening are separate subscription products. A visible application price is therefore not the full recruiting cost.
Call2Action uses a custom quote based on the fleet's hiring workflow. Two recent Call2Action campaign reports show why cost per hire is the more useful denominator: one recorded 502 leads and six hires at $445 in reported campaign spend per hire; another recorded 181 leads and four hires at $233.20 per hire. Individual campaign results vary and are not a promise of future performance.
For an apples-to-apples test, track spend, applicants, completed phone conversations, qualified drivers, orientations and seated hires by source. Indeed may produce the reach; Call2Action should prove that more of that reach survives the path to a hire.

06 · Best fit
Choose around the bottleneck.
When Call2Action is the better fit
Choose the AI-first workflow when…
- The fleet already receives applications but too few become live conversations
- Every driver needs a consistent spoken CDL and route-fit screen
- After-hours response and repeated follow-up are major leakage points
- Leads from Indeed and other sources need one shared recruiting pipeline
- The team wants to report cost per qualified driver and cost per seated hire
When Indeed is enough—or stronger
Choose the familiar option when…
- The immediate problem is job visibility or access to a broad candidate audience
- The employer wants resume search and proactive matched-candidate outreach
- Indeed's digital screener questions and Smart Screening provide enough early evaluation
- The team already has the capacity and systems to call, screen and onboard every applicant
07 · The honest answer
Indeed finds candidates; Call2Action is built to work the trucking funnel
Indeed is hard to replace as a source because reach is the product. It also now offers meaningful AI sourcing and screening, so Call2Action should not be positioned as the first technology to automate applicant evaluation.
Call2Action becomes the better investment when applicant volume is not the real constraint. If drivers wait for a call, recruiters repeat the same CDL questions and nobody can connect spend to seated hires, a trucking-specific voice and workflow layer solves the more expensive part of the funnel. The two products can work together.

Common questions
Is Call2Action an alternative to Indeed for hiring CDL drivers?+
It can replace parts of the recruiting workflow, but it does not need to replace Indeed as a source. Indeed can generate visibility and applicants; Call2Action can receive those leads, call and qualify them, organize follow-up and move qualified drivers through screening and onboarding.
Does Indeed use AI for recruiting?+
Yes. Smart Sourcing uses AI for candidate matching and outreach, while Smart Screening evaluates applicants against employer-defined criteria and produces a Smart Fit Score, candidate summary and transcript. Recruiters retain control of decisions.
How is Call2Action's screening different from Indeed Smart Screening?+
Indeed Smart Screening is a general employer-defined evaluation connected to Indeed Apply and supported ATS workflows. Call2Action conducts a voice phone interview built specifically around CDL class, endorsements, driving experience, fleet history, route preference and employment terms, then continues into trucking screening and onboarding.
Can Call2Action connect with Indeed?+
Yes. Call2Action can bring Indeed candidates into the same recruiting workflow used for other driver-lead sources. The exact connection and data flow should be confirmed for the fleet's Indeed account and current ATS during a demo.
What should a fleet measure beyond Indeed applications?+
Measure completed first conversations, qualified-driver rate, disqualification reasons, interview and orientation attendance, time to hire and cost per seated driver. Those numbers show whether candidate reach is becoming hiring output.
