Platform — AI phone screening

Every applicant interviewed.
Before anyone dials.

Call2Action's AI phone screening interviews every CDL driver who applies — by voice, right after the application, at any hour and in any language. The interview checks license type, CDL class, endorsements, experience and fleet driving history against your criteria, so what reaches your recruiters is a shortlist of qualified drivers, not a list of phone numbers.

01

Why screening drivers by phone works

Drivers communicate by voice. It's how they work all day, and it's why written applications fail them: job descriptions go unread, twelve-field forms get abandoned, and the information that does come through is too thin to qualify anyone.

So instead of asking a driver to read and type, the AI calls and talks. It asks each qualifying question in conversation — CDL class, endorsements, experience, home-time expectations — and captures the answers in a structured, comparable form. You get complete information even from candidates who would never have finished a form.

02

What the interview checks

The interview is built around the criteria your fleet actually hires on, and questions are matched to the position — a driver applying for a Regional dedicated run is qualified against that role's requirements, not a generic driver profile.

  • License type and CDL class
  • Endorsements
  • Years of experience and fleet driving history
  • Route type the driver will actually accept — OTR, Regional, Dedicated, Flatbed, Reefer, Dry Van
  • Employment terms: 1099, W-2, and whether a truck is needed

03

It talks like a person, not a script

The AI speaks like a real person rather than reading a survey. It asks the qualifying questions a recruiter would ask, follows the driver's answers, and evaluates each candidate against your criteria.

It also never sleeps and never has a full queue. Interviews run at any hour and in any language, which is exactly when and how a meaningful share of driver applications arrive.

04

What happens after the call

Candidates who don't meet your criteria are filtered out at the interview stage — before a recruiter spends a minute on them.

Everyone who passes moves into automated pre-employment screening: CDL verification, MVR, carrier history, FMCSA commercial safety records and drug test results, delivered as a single report. Accepted drivers continue into digital onboarding and can be ready to start the same day.

Common questions

Common questions

Does the AI replace our recruiters?

No. It removes the part of their day that goes nowhere — dialing applicants who never answer, walking unqualified candidates through questions they can't pass, and re-asking the same eligibility basics on every call. Your recruiters still make every hiring decision. What changes is that they make it from a shortlist of drivers whose license, experience and history have already been checked.

What if a driver doesn't speak English?

The interview runs in any language. Applicants who don't speak English are interviewed properly in their own language instead of being dropped from the pipeline — which matters in a workforce where that would otherwise cost you qualified drivers.

How quickly after applying is a driver interviewed?

Right after the application, at any hour. A driver who applies at 2 AM is interviewed at 2 AM, not two days later when they've forgotten applying and stopped answering unknown numbers. Speed matters more in driver recruiting than in almost any other hiring category, because most drivers apply to several fleets in the same evening.
