Recruiting metrics

Seated driver

A seated driver is a hired driver who has completed onboarding and is actually operating a truck — the point where a recruiting funnel has produced revenue capacity rather than paperwork. "Seats filled" is the output metric trucking executives actually manage to.

01

Why it matters when hiring drivers

Counting seated drivers instead of hires keeps a funnel honest: it absorbs no-shows, early quits and onboarding failures that "hires" ignores. An empty seat also has a carrying cost — a truck payment and a customer commitment with no revenue against them — which is why recruiting speed is an operations metric, not an HR metric.
