PSP (Pre-Employment Screening Program)

PSP — the Pre-Employment Screening Program — is an FMCSA service that gives carriers a driver's federal crash history for the past five years and roadside inspection history for the past three, drawn from the agency's MCMIS database. It requires the driver's consent and is used during hiring, alongside the MVR.

Why it matters when hiring drivers

PSP shows what the MVR doesn't: crashes and inspections recorded federally, including events that never became state convictions. For a fleet, it is the difference between knowing a driver's tickets and knowing their operational history on the road.
