Route and freight types

Drop and hook

Drop and hook is freight where the driver drops a loaded or empty trailer and hooks to another that is already prepared, instead of waiting for live loading or unloading at a dock. It keeps drivers moving and is one of the most-cited perks in driver job postings.

01

Why it matters when hiring drivers

Drivers translate "drop and hook" directly into more miles and less unpaid waiting. Fleets that genuinely run it should say so specifically in recruiting; fleets that advertise it loosely inherit drivers who quit when they meet the dock.
