License, records & compliance checks

DOT physical

A DOT physical is the medical examination every commercial driver must pass, performed by a certified medical examiner, resulting in a medical certificate valid for up to 24 months — shorter when a condition requires monitoring. Without a current certificate, a CDL holder cannot legally drive.

Why it matters when hiring drivers

An expired or short-cycle medical card is a quiet way to lose a driver you already hired: the license is fine, the truck is ready, and the driver still cannot operate. Checking certificate status and expiry during screening prevents same-week surprises after a hire.
